As higher education in Jordan and abroad enters the second era of involvement in ranking and colleges keep on sorting out it, we ought to pose bigger questions: Have rankings been a power for development in higher education? Assuming this is the case, for whom and in what ways? Does higher education ranking simply befuddle status and prestige with quality, in this manner reifying already elite universities? (Kauppi & Erkkilä, 2011). As ranking associations proceed with their work, it is imperative that their impact keeps on being the subject of thorough empirical research.
