Healthcare companies now know that employee well-being is critical to workforce stability, organisational effectiveness, and patient care. In the last 20 years, academic study has evolved from occupational stress and burnout to employee retention, job satisfaction, resilience, engagement, and sustainable work practices. The study combines bibliometric analysis of worldwide research on well-being, retention, productivity and work satisfaction of healthcare professionals during 2006–2016 and 2016–2026. Bibliometric studies were conducted in R using a curated dataset of 417 articles for the first decade and 998 papers for the second decade. Performance indicators and scientific mapping methodologies are used to assess publication growth, leading authors and journals, institutional and national contributions, citation impact, collaboration patterns, topic advancement, and intellectual frameworks. The results demonstrate an increase in research, international cooperation and transdisciplinary themes such as mental health, organisational resilience, employee engagement, digital healthcare and workplace sustainability. New study finds technology and post-pandemic labour challenges are hurting healthcare jobs. The paper provides a review of scientific advancements over more than two decades to demonstrate how research has evolved and offers recommendations to researchers, healthcare administrators, and politicians for developing healthier, more efficient, and more sustainable healthcare systems.
